Dr. Shannon L. Lewis

Dr. Shannon Lewis is honored to serve as the Principal at Next Generation Academy, a new charter school located in Greensboro, NC. She is motivated by making an impact in students’ lives of the community. Dr. Lewis views a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students. She believes partnerships with parents and community partners are essential to enriching the experience at Next Generation Academy.

Dr. Lewis has been in education for over sixteen years.

As a teacher, literacy specialist and curriculum facilitator, she has made a difference by collaborating, coaching and consulting with teachers and her administrator in curriculum, instruction, assessment and organizational goals of the school/district.

She served on the School Leadership Team, Intervention Support Team, School Improvement Team, Crisis Team and Co-lead Mentor from her previous professional position.

Dr. Lewis has led district and school-wide professional development in the area of achieving academic excellence for African American Males and instructional support (e.g. Fundations, Guided Reading, and Words Their Way).

Dr. Lewis is an Aggie and a Panther!

She received a BS in Early Childhood Education (B-K)/Elementary Education (K-6), and a MSA in School Administration from NC Agricultural & Technical State University.

She received her Doctor of Education degree from High Point University.

During her free time, Dr. Lewis enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with family.
